Edward Lee Lucente

Ed Lucente, affectionately known as "Fast Eddie" was born on June 16, 1936, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and passed away in Fresno on November 8, 2019. Ed especially liked fast cars, motorcycles, racing, coffee with his pals, West Virginia basketball and football, and good food. As a young man, he was very successful racing twin engine go-karts, one year winning the Tri-State Championship for West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
In 1967, he moved to Fresno to organize the union at Pittsburg Plate Glass. He became the local rep very quickly, and in 1972 he became a national union rep for the Aluminum Brick and Glass Workers. He was an outstanding negotiator. He was very proud of the fact that he never involved any of his workers in a strike.
He spent the last few years of his life in assisted living and even though he appreciated the care, he hated the loss of his independence. He handled with much dignity the loss of his beloved wife Joanie, his son Steve and a grandson, J.T., a highly decorated U.S. Marine in Iraq. He is survived by three children: a daughter, Kimberly Simone, two sons, Tony Lucente and Donnie Lucente, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
