Alice Nanamura was born on April 20, 1931 in Pixley Ca. to James and Kiyono Ichinaga and passed away on September 7, 2022. She grew up in Tulare and graduated from Tulare Union High School. She was one of 11 children. Her family was sent to a Japanese Internment Camp in Jerome, AK for 3 years when she was 11 years old after which they returned to Tulare to continue their life.
Alice was a nurse at the former county hospital, Dr. Goettle, Koehmstedt and Henry’s office and for the Tulare city schools. She also worked at Sweet’s Drug Store, Rite Aid Pharmacy and Time Out Pizza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings May Takeda, Phoebe Grange, Dorothy Thomas, Fred Ichinaga, Jimmy Ichinaga, David Ichinaga and son Barry Nanamura. She is survived by her son, Scott Nanamura, Daughter and son in law, Karen and Anthony Bravo, grandchildren, Akio Nanamura and Shannon Bravo and siblings Jack Ichinaga, Frankie Wilkinson, Monty Ichinaga and Shirley Nishimoto.
Alice loved to spend time with her family and friends playing games and watching kids play sports. You would find her at the golf course, baseball and softball fields and volleyball court cheering on Shannon and close friends’ children. Her favorite pastime was eating a good meal! She also loved to make cookies and jam for anyone who enjoyed them.
There will not be a service at this time. Arrangements are being made by Sterling & Smith Funeral Home.
