Alice June Gerety

Alice June Gerety died July 16th, 2022 in Sacramento, CA at the age of 85. She is resting in Peace and Love from her long battle with health issues.
Alice is survived by her Husband of 67 years, Robert Gerety and 5 of her 6 children, Michael Gerety, Katherine Gerety, Jeffrey Gerety, Kevin Gerety and Christopher Gerety and her 13 Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Gerety.
Alice was born in Parlier, California with her Danish mother along with her brother Alvin and Sister Gunhild. She was very proud of her Danish roots as her Father and Mother were strong, hard-working immigrants. Her father died when Alice was 6 months old which left her mother to work the farm, raise 3 young children and establish herself as a part of the community. She had great respect and admiration for her mother. She went to elementary school and high school in Parlier where was very active in school, clubs and outside interests. Being involved and active was important to her from an early age.
She met Bob when she was 15 years old and was smitten from day one. Bob and Alice spent their next 3 years together in Parlier and Reedley.
Bob and Alice have six kids born in different cities in Northern California as they moved around. They finally settled in Redding, CA where they raised all their kids through Elementary school, High school and College.
Alice actively supported of all her kids activities in the classroom, tennis, sports and all the extra-curriculars her kids were so involved in.
Alice was proud to be a stay-at-home Mom but had a desire to enter the work force. She began as a waitress at the River View Country Club. She then worked as a receptionist at a Redding doctor’s office as she loved people, talking and getting to know everybody!! She always had a passion for travel and seeing the world and helping others do the same. This was a dream of hers since being a young girl. She found a travel agency in Redding that would train her and let her work there to build travel knowledge. Alice and Bob were able to see and experience so many parts of the world together. She did this for the next 37 years and was deeply passionate about the cultures around the world.
Alice was a very active part of her church and her community with her involvement with Republican Women of Redding, Redding Catholic Charities and Redding Soroptimist. Alice and Bob were active members of St. Josephs and Our Lady of Mercy parishes in Redding. She was proudly involved in YLI, Kinder-Catholic, Baptism Class, Marriage Encounter and TEC.
Alice was a strong and devout Catholic and believed deeply in her faith. She was very proud to be an American!!
We know Alice is resting in Peace, love and free of pain and so happy to finally meet her dad, see her mom again and hug her son Daniel.
