Our beloved Dad, Alfred Acosta passed peacefully at home on October 26, 2022 at 96

years of age. Dad was born on October 14, 1926 in Salomonville, Arizona to Juan and

Ynez Acosta. Dad was the middle child of 11 children. As a young child the family left

Arizona for California and settled in rural Tulare County. He attended Elbow Creek

Elementary School and graduated from the 8th grade. Dad was drafted into the United

States Army in 1944 and served during WWII until after the war ended.

Dad worked as a farm laborer as a young man and in 1951 he began his career as an

edgerman and millwright for Dinuba Lumber/Sequoia Forest Industries until his

retirement in 1991. In 1951 Dad married the love of his life Jane Ortiz. They were

married for 64 years until Mom’s death in 2015. Together they were blessed with two

sets of twin daughters and two sons.

Dad was a hard working man who always helped a friend, family member or neighbor in

need. He was a jack of all trades and could fix or build just about anything and was

known for his carpentry, electrical, plumbing,appliance repair and automobile repair

skills. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family or fishing. He was also

known for his sense of humor bringing jokes and smiles to all in his company. Dad

always shared his life stories with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His commitment to family stemmed from his Catholic faith. He was a member of the

Knights of Columbus as well as the Dinuba chapter of the VFW.

Dad valued education and encouraged his children and grandchildren to attain as much

education as possible. Dad will be greatly missed by all his family, friends and

neighbors. Dad was preceded in death by his siblings, as well as his grandsons Jeremy

Acosta and Andrew Bedoya. He is survived by his children; Theresa Acosta Mena, Trini

Acosta, Alfred (Laurel) Acosta, Edward (Jade) Acosta, Susan Acosta, and Sally Acosta

(Edward) Bedoya. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jennifer (Chad) White, Joel

(Alma) Acosta, Felicia Mena (Scotty) Evans, Adam (Denise) Mena, Michael Bedoya,

Julie Acosta Swilley. His great grandchildren include Cadence/Lucas Acosta,

Adelina/Joaquin Evans, Jesse White and Stella Mena. Dad also leaves behind many

loved nephews and nieces. Until we meet in paradise with you and Mom, Dad Rest in Peace.
